A friend loves at all times.  Proverbs 17:17

I know, we all know this verse.  But….do we?  Really?  I mean, do we really get what it means?  All times.  Hmm…..even when my feelings are hurt?  Even when I’m mad?  How about when I just don’t feel like it?  Or when I’ve had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day?  Or worse, when our friend has had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day and we’ve caught the brunt of it?  Yep….all those times.

So, what does it mean to love?  (Don’t throw anything at me!)  We’ve all read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7….Love is patient, love is kind, blah, blah, blah….  But….read it in The Message….

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
   Love doesn’t strut,
   Doesn’t have a swelled head,
   Doesn’t force itself on others,
   Isn’t always “me first,”
   Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
   Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
   Puts up with anything,
   Trusts God always,
   Always looks for the best,
   Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

Wow.  I think that’s abundantly clear!  Now….I’m not saying I’ve got this loving at all times thing down….in fact, there’s a reason you’re reading this.  I told you I share the lessons God has for me with you!  So, let’s go out there and try to get it right tomorrow!

Good night.  Be blessed and tell someone you love them.

About meanderingswithgod

I Write. It’s what I do. It’s as vital a part of me as breathing. I write when I’m happy. I write when I’m sad. I write when I don’t understand. Or when I understand a little too clearly. I write when God’s speaking to me. And when I’m speaking to Him. And, more often than not, it comes out in rhythm and rhyme. In my words, you’ll find laughter and tears, pain and triumph, confusion and clarity. In my words, if you bother to search, you’ll find me. So, it is with both excitement and trepidation that I begin. This blog. This writing that’s been so long coming. My words. God’s words. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to tell the difference. Mine are clumsy, His are eloquent. I hope, as you read my verbal meanderings, that you’ll be blessed and find yourself searching for Him.
